The Sanctuary Shall Be Cleansed
God's Answers to the Enemy's Attacks

Have you ever heard that the investigative judgment is a theological invention with no biblical basis?
If you have been a Seventh-day Adventist for any length of time, you have likely encountered this accusation. You may have heard it from a coworker, a family member belonging to another denomination, or a critic on the internet. The charge is usually delivered with a tone of intellectual superiority. They claim that our understanding of Christ's ministry in the heavenly sanctuary was nothing more than a face-saving device. They say it was a desperate theological cover-up invented in response to the Great Disappointment of October 22, 1844.
These attacks are not new, but they are highly effective at unsettling the minds of believers. The critics often come armed with sophisticated vocabulary. They recite large amounts of historical data. They quote theologians and commentators. They frame their arguments in a way that makes the Adventist understanding of prophecy look foolish, outdated, or entirely fabricated.
You know the truth in your heart. But in that moment of confrontation, the words just do not come. The dates get mixed up in your mind. The connection between Daniel 8 and Daniel 9 suddenly feels blurry. So you retreat. You back away from the conversation.
God did not call His people to be silent when His truth is under attack. He called us to stand. And in Daniel chapter 8, God gives His people four specific answers to the enemy's attacks.
